Hosting Market Remains Ripe

Last Updated: November 30, 1999

The Yankee Group has conducted a web hosting survey which finds that 36 to 60 percent of small & medium sized businesses with Internet access have a web site. This leaves web hosting companies a potential market of at least 40%. What makes web hosting great is that existing companies who already have hosting may want to upgrade their hosting plan as their site grows. This leaves an estimated 36 to 60 percent of existing companies with web hosting interested in upgrading or a new service.

The survey conducted by the Yankee Group also indicates that more than 20% of the businesses are interested in integrating an internal system within their web site.

More than 25% of the business web sites online today will be migrating from static websites to dynamic dadtabase-driven ones. This is a huge opportunity for web hosting companies and database programmers alike.
