- My name is Beau Henderson. I co-own
IMIN with my brother in law. I am responsible for most of the customer
support and technical issues. I am the resident Systems Admin and
I also take care of various other tasks including sales and marketing.
Where is
your company located?
- Our company is based out of Queensland,
Australia. We all work from home which helps cut down on the costs
of running the business.

- Our servers are located in locked
cabinets in the Fremont, CA. HE.net Datacenter. HE has its own USA
backbone and also uses bandwidth from hundereds of other premium

does exactly?
- We offer many services to local and
non local businesses and personal users. Our primary focus is based
around providing reliable and affordable web hosting solutions using
Linux and FreeBSD. We also offer dedicated servers, server colocation,
programming, domain registration, search engine optimisation, web
design as well as streaming media services.
Tell us
how you got started.
- We started off as a small reseller,
providing web design and web hosting services to mostly local businesses.
We mainly focused on the web hosting service and it grew at a great
rate thanks to our customers speaking up about our excellent service.
When we started up, ( and still to date ) web hosting within Australia
was a very expensive service. As we host our servers over seas we
were able to provide a decent service to not only the world but
Australians at a really affordable price. We progressed into our
own dedicated servers as we grew. We now provide the tools necessary
for others to start up their own services.
What is
your average day like at work?
- I wake up at about 7:00
AM and the first thing I do is check my mail for support requests
etc. If there is nothing to urgent, I then go off to check the state
of our servers and ensure everything is running optimally and nobody
is abusing the services. Support and sales questions are then answered
followed by general business upkeep. I'll normally check for software
updates and vulnerablities to make sure our customers data is safe.
Throughout the day I continue to maintain the servers, making sure
everything is running smoothly. I am also in constant contact with
clients, working with them to help expand their business by providing
the technologies they require. An average day of work lasts anywhere
from 10 - 18 hours for myself, 7 days a week.
With such
a tough industry how do you remain competitive, and have an edge
over the competitor?
- We maintain a great working
relationship with our client base. Small or large, they all get
treated with the same respect. We are able to offer our service
at a very reasonable price which is also apealing to new visitors
to our site. There is no doubt that the web hosting industry is
saturated. The key is to offer service above and beyond what others
do and remain possitive while doing so. Maintaining a friendly relationship
with your clients is key to getting new business. If your clients
are happy they will tell their friends and family.

Do
you have any suggestions for someone trying to step into this field?
- Patience, patience, patience
& persistance. Success will NOT happen overnight and you need
to be prepared to put a lot of time, thought and effort into your
business. Listen to all your client suggestions and feedback and
build your business around the needs of your clients. You may want
to target a specific audience, such as new web masters, or proffesionals.
Find yourself a niche, focus your business on it and always try
to remain possitive!
Do you
have any closing comments?
- The most important thing
to keep in mind while running a business is to remain loyal and
truethful to your clients. Things do go wrong and accidents do happen.
Most clients can see right through a lie and it does no good for
your companies image to blame someone else for your own mistake.
Build a solid business plan before jumping into the industry, do
your research and try and have a little money saved to keep yourself
running for the initial 6 - 12 months.
