what your company does exactly?
Compuville is a web and IT
services firm. We deliver reliable, cost-justified business solutions
tailored each customer's needs fully implemented with responsive
long-term support. We build and design websites and ecommerce solutions,
provide managed web and application hosting, design custom applications
such as point of sale systems and inventory tracking and management
systems and provide local on-side IT support.
Tell us
how you got started.
Compuville saw a need in
our local industry for a company who would provide dedicated support
to each customer as an individual. When Compuville started, we were
more tailored toward providing hardware solutions to local businesses
but we quickly realized the massive amount of time and overhead
involved with supporting and building computer systems. We then
restructured out business plan and emerged as what we are today,
an IT services firm. We still provide hardware support to our customers,
but now through our partners such as Dell and CDW.
What is
your average day like at work?
My role in Compuville is
as President, but I also play a major part in the day-to-day operations
of the company. I usually start each day with a visit to our helpdesk
to ensure that we behind in customer support. By the time I do that
and dig through daily e-mail, I can usually be found at customer’s
sites. I like to make sure that each customer is happy with the
services we provide, so it is not uncommon for me to drop by a customer’s
site and visit with them to make sure things are operating smoothly.
Each day is different for me at Compuville – that’s
why I love it so.
With such
a tough industry how do you remain competitive, and have an edge
over the competitor?
We have found that by delivering
top-class customer support and providing our services in an efficient
and timely manner at very competitive rates we are able to stay
more then a few steps ahead of the competition. Even with our hosting
division, by providing the best support and maintaining our systems
securely and with 99.9% uptime we are able to keep each customer
coming back again and again.
Do you
have any suggestions for someone trying to step into this field?
Customer support is a big
part of what we do. Having customers who know how they can reach
someone when something breaks is very comforting. But more than
just being able to reach us, the fact that we are able to resolve
most problems as they arise in a very quick manner keeps us on the
edge. To anyone coming into this field, you must have first-class
customer support.
Do you
have any closing comments?
Compuville has been profitable
every month since we opened in 2000. We have made several changes
to the core of our business model since that time, but have still
managed to remain ahead of all our competition by staying closely
to all the points outlined above. If you feel that you need any
