Last Updated: November 30, -0001

This is a How To for Putty.exe which is a client that allows Raw, Telnet, SSH, and Rlogin conncetions. Putty.exe is free to download and the download link is included below. Putty.exe is vital in running and managing a dedicated server. If you are not using Windos you will either need one for a MAC or if you are in *nix already you wont need Putty.exe

  1. Save Putty.exe onto your
    local computer system.

    Right Click Save As

    http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe

  2. Load Putty.exe

Double Click Putty.exe that you just downloaded.

  3. Putty.exe will not come
pre-configured for SSH or your server so you will

need to enter information as described below.

    "server
    ip here
" is your servers IP Address

Click ( ) SSH and that will change
    the Port to 22

Server Name Here can be "my server"
    or Server1

Once the above info is typed in.

  4. Click Save

  5. Now anytime you load putty.exe
and want to connect to your server you

simply double click the "server name here" you entered
    above.

It will be right under the "Default Settings"

  6. Putty.exe will then connect
to your server and It will ask you for

    your username / password.

  7. Once you enter that information
you will be logged into your server via SSH.
