EV1 Shifting Focus, Netcraft Says

Last Updated: November 30, 1999

June 21, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Texas-based Web hosting provider EV1Servers (ev1servers.net) is shifting its focus from the discount dedicated server model to higher-priced servers, with the hopes of generating larger profit margins, according to a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com).

According to EV1, the company’s most popular product is no longer the $99 dedicated server but Intel dual Xeon servers priced from $399 to $499.

EV1 says the focus on high-end systems has resulted in higher profit margins per server and has not slowed down the company’s overall growth in hostnames, which has remained steady, albeit slightly slower than in the last few years when the company zeroed in on selling discount servers.

EV1Servers is widely credited with developing the discount dedicated server model and according to Necraft's data, hosts more than one million hostnames. In June of 2003, EV1 was home to approximately 350,000 hostnames.
